From Tunis (TUN) there are direct flights to Casablanca (CMN) on Royal Air Maroc and Tunisair, around 2.5 hours. Check your visa status before booking. With such a short flight, even a 7-day trip covering Marrakech, the Sahara and Fes is easy and relaxed.

Tunis is the easiest origin city in this whole region, and I love delivering that news. There are direct flights from TUN to Casablanca on Royal Air Maroc and Tunisair, and the hop is only about two and a half hours — barely longer than a domestic Maghreb flight. No Gulf hub, no overnight haul. I still tell my Tunisian guests to verify the live schedule with the airline, because direct frequencies vary by season, but this is as simple as Morocco travel gets.

On the visa, your passport sets the rules. Many travellers from the Maghreb enjoy an easy path between the two countries, but I never let anyone assume — confirm your specific entry requirements for Morocco before booking. If your passport needs a visa, apply early and verify the details on the official Moroccan portal. Sorting this first keeps the trip carefree.

For the itinerary, because the flight is so short you lose almost no time in transit, which means even a 7-day trip feels generous. I send Tunis travellers on Marrakech, a night in the High Atlas, two nights in the Sahara near Merzouga, then Fes — and with the shared Maghrebi roots, the food, music and medinas feel both familiar and thrilling. Ten days adds Chefchaouen and Essaouira on the coast. A private driver makes the long desert roads effortless.

My Tunis-specific tip: take advantage of how close you are by travelling more often and lighter. There is essentially no jet lag and no time difference, so you can fly in the morning and be wandering the Marrakech souks by afternoon. Keep the plan unhurried and lean on our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below — Morocco is practically a neighbour, so savour it.
