Absolutely — March is one of the best months. Spring arrives with warm days (20–24°C in Marrakech), comfortable desert temperatures, blooming valleys and green landscapes. Nights are still cool but the harsh winter cold is gone. Crowds and prices climb but remain moderate.
March marks the start of Morocco's golden season. Daytime temperatures in Marrakech and Fes climb into the low-to-mid 20s°C, the air is fresh and clear, and the whole country turns green after the winter rains. This is the sweet spot where almost every region works well at once — a rare alignment that makes March ideal for a classic grand-tour itinerary covering cities, mountains and desert in one trip.
The Sahara is at its most comfortable now. Daytime desert temperatures are pleasantly warm rather than punishing, camel treks and dune walks are enjoyable, and nights — while still cool — have lost their January bite. This is prime time for a Merzouga or Erg Chigaga overnight: warm golden afternoons, mild evenings around the fire, and skies still clear of summer haze.
The High Atlas is spectacular in March. Lower valleys like the Ourika and Ait Bouguemez are lush and flowering, while the high peaks keep their snowcaps, giving you that postcard contrast of green slopes beneath white summits. Trekking on lower trails is excellent, though high passes may still hold snow. The Rose Valley near Kelaat M'Gouna is greening up ahead of its famous April–May bloom.
A note on timing: in some years Ramadan begins in March (its dates shift roughly 11 days earlier each year), which subtly changes the rhythm of cities — quieter daytime cafés, lively evening life after the fast breaks. Tours and hotels run normally and it can be a fascinating cultural window, but check the exact dates when you plan. Crowds and prices are rising toward the Easter peak but are still very manageable.
In a sentence: March delivers warm days, mild desert nights, green landscapes and everything open — one of the two finest months (alongside April and October) to see Morocco at its best.
