Yes — it’s one of the best. From November to March, Marrakech and especially Agadir offer reliable winter sun with daytime highs of 18–22°C, just a 4–5 hour flight and one time zone from Scandinavia. Days are warm and bright, though desert and Atlas evenings turn cold, so pack layers.

Honestly, yes — Morocco is one of the smartest winter-sun choices a Scandinavian can make, and it’s why Agadir in particular is so popular with Swedish, Norwegian and Danish travellers from November onward. While Stockholm or Oslo is dark by mid-afternoon, you can be on a Moroccan beach or a Marrakech rooftop in warm, bright sunshine after a flight of only four to five hours, with no jet lag because Morocco sits just one hour behind you in winter. The value-to-effort ratio is hard to beat.

The climate is the real selling point. From November to March, Agadir and the Atlantic coast enjoy daytime highs around 20–22°C and some of the most reliable winter sunshine in the whole Mediterranean basin — it’s a proper beach-and-golf winter destination. Marrakech runs a touch cooler, typically 18–20°C in the day, with crisp, clear light that’s glorious for exploring the medina, the gardens and the palaces. It rarely rains for long, and the low humidity makes the warmth feel gentle rather than heavy.

I’ll be honest about the one thing that catches Scandinavians out: the nights are cold. Desert evenings in the Sahara and the High Atlas passes can drop close to freezing in midwinter, and even Marrakech cools off sharply after sunset — riads and older buildings aren’t always well heated. So while the days reward shorts and sunglasses, you genuinely need warm layers, a fleece and a hat for the evenings. Pack for two climates and you’ll be comfortable everywhere.

For a winter escape I usually suggest pairing a relaxed coastal or Marrakech base with a desert overnight — the Sahara in winter is clear, star-filled and uncrowded, and that contrast between warm afternoons and cold, brilliant nights is the magic of the season. If you’ve only got a week, a 7-day loop is perfect; with more time, the 10-day route lets you add the imperial cities. It’s the antidote to a Nordic winter that I recommend most often.
