June turns hot inland: Marrakech and the south push 32–38°C, the Sahara is fiercely hot by day, and desert camping shifts to early/late hours. The Atlas mountains are perfect and cool; the Atlantic coast (Essaouira, Agadir) stays breezy and pleasant. Crowds ease slightly; prices soften.

June is when Morocco's geography really splits into different countries. Inland, the heat arrives in earnest: Marrakech, Fes and the southern plains regularly hit the mid-30s and climb higher as the month goes on. The cities are still wonderful, but you travel them differently — early mornings in the medina, shaded courtyards and pools through the punishing afternoons, and evenings that finally cool into something delicious. Anyone not used to dry heat should take it seriously: hydrate hard, plan around the midday peak, and choose a riad with a plunge pool or strong air-conditioning.

The Sahara in June is for the committed. Daytime temperatures on the dunes can be ferocious, and I'm candid with guests that a desert night is still doable and beautiful — the stars are extraordinary and the nights cool off — but you go out at dawn and dusk, not midday, and you need a camp built for the heat. Many people in June trade a deep desert overnight for a shorter desert experience and spend more time where the climate is kinder. And the kindest place of all in June is the High Atlas: this is prime mountain season, with warm days, cool nights, clear trails and green valleys — the perfect antidote to lowland heat.

The Atlantic coast is the other June hero. While Marrakech bakes, Essaouira sits breezy and mild in the low-to-mid 20s, and Agadir and the southern beaches are warm and sunny without being oppressive — the ocean keeps the whole strip comfortable. Chefchaouen and the northern hills are also more bearable than the deep interior. A smart June itinerary reads the map: culture and gardens in the cities early and late in the day, mountains for hiking and relief, and the coast to actually relax.

On crowds and cost, June is the start of the shift away from the spring peak. European families haven't fully broken up for summer yet, the marquee inland sights are a little quieter than in May, and prices begin to soften — it can be good value if you can handle, or design around, the heat. The exception is the Atlantic resorts, which start filling for summer. Pack light, breathable clothing, serious sun protection and a hat, plan your inland days around the cool hours, and lean on the coast and mountains, and June can be a rewarding, less-crowded month.
