Serenity Morocco

Scale the towering limestone walls of Todra Gorge -- one of the world's premier climbing destinations -- with routes for beginners through advanced climbers on 300-metre cliffs.
Todra Gorge is one of the most spectacular natural features in Morocco and has earned an international reputation as a world-class rock climbing destination, with towering limestone walls rising up to 300 metres on either side of a narrow canyon carved by the Todra River over millions of years. This four-hour climbing experience is suitable for complete beginners through experienced climbers, with routes ranging from gentle introductory pitches to technical multi-pitch challenges on some of the finest limestone in North Africa. Your IFMGA-certified climbing guide is a local Berber who grew up exploring these gorge walls and has bolted many of the routes himself. For beginners, the session starts with a thorough ground school covering harness fitting, knot tying, belaying technique, and communication signals. You then tackle your first routes on the "Pilier du Couchant" sector, where well-bolted sport climbing routes graded 4 to 5b offer secure, enjoyable climbing with outstanding exposure and views down the gorge. More experienced climbers can attempt the classic "Mansour" route -- a sustained multi-pitch adventure on golden limestone with technical face climbing, delicate aretes, and a summit stance that offers a vertiginous perspective down the 300-metre walls to the river far below. All equipment is provided and of professional grade: harness, helmet, climbing shoes, quickdraws, ropes, and belay devices. Between climbs, your guide shares the geological story of the gorge, the ecology of the canyon, and the legends of the Berber communities who have inhabited these dramatic surroundings for millennia.
