Casablanca to Marrakech is about 240 km. By car it is roughly 2.5 hours on the A7 motorway; by train it is about 3 hours with frequent direct departures. It is one of Morocco's fastest, easiest intercity links — the standard arrival route from Casablanca airport.
This is the journey most visitors make first, because Casablanca's Mohammed V airport is Morocco's main international gateway and Marrakech is where everyone wants to be. The good news is it is one of the quickest and smoothest connections in the country: about 240 kilometres, roughly 2.5 hours by car on the excellent A7 toll motorway, flat and fast the whole way.
The train is the option I most often recommend for this leg, and it is brilliantly convenient. ONCF runs frequent direct trains between Casablanca and Marrakech taking about 3 hours, and — crucially — they stop at Casa Voyageurs in the city and connect from the airport line, so you can travel from Mohammed V airport to central Marrakech almost entirely by rail. First class is air-conditioned with reserved seats; I always book it for arriving guests who want zero hassle and no negotiating with drivers while jet-lagged.
By car it is genuinely just 2.5 hours of easy motorway driving across the flat Atlantic hinterland — not scenic, but quick, and the road is modern with service areas. A private transfer straight from the airport to your Marrakech riad is the most comfortable choice if you are arriving with luggage and don't fancy changing trains, and it is the standard luxury arrival arrangement.
My advice: if you land in Casablanca and have no particular reason to stop in the city, don't — head straight to Marrakech, either by the direct train from the airport/Casa Voyageurs or by a pre-booked private car. You can be sipping mint tea on a riad terrace within about three hours of clearing customs. Save Casablanca itself (the Hassan II Mosque is the one true must-see) for a short stop on the way back, if at all.
