From Almaty, route via Istanbul on Turkish Airlines, or via a Gulf hub like Dubai or Doha, to Casablanca — about 14–18 hours door-to-door with one stop. Plan 10–14 days to justify the long haul, arrive Casablanca and base on Marrakech. Verify schedules and check visa rules first.

Almaty is the longest haul I plan from on this list, so the routing decision carries real weight. Turkish via Istanbul is my go-to for Kazakh travellers because it connects onward to Casablanca on a single protected ticket and Istanbul is well placed between the two, but the Gulf hubs — Dubai on Emirates, Doha on Qatar — are strong contenders from Almaty and occasionally beat Istanbul on schedule. I always compare both before booking.

I am very direct with Almaty guests about duration: this is a fourteen-to-eighteen-hour journey each way, so do not attempt it for a week. I ask for ten to fourteen days, because anything less and the trip becomes mostly airports. The reward for that commitment is that I can show you Morocco in full — desert, mountains, imperial cities and coast — at a pace that feels like a genuine expedition rather than a frantic checklist.

On the ground I land you in Casablanca, settle you in Marrakech with a real rest day after that long flight, then unfold the country generously: souks and rooftops, two or three nights in the Sahara so the dunes and star fields truly sink in, the High Atlas crossing, the southern kasbahs of the Dadès and Ounila, Fes for its peerless medina, and Essaouira's Atlantic ramparts to close. With two weeks, none of it feels rushed.

Two responsibilities stay firmly with you, and for a trip this far I am emphatic: confirm your chosen hub-to-Casablanca timings yourself right before booking, because both the Istanbul and Gulf schedules reshuffle seasonally and a perfect connection can disappear, and verify your visa or entry-stamp rules directly. Get those two locked down, send me your dates, and I will craft a Morocco worth crossing a continent for.
