From Antwerp, travel to Brussels (BRU, ~40–50 min by train) for direct or one-stop flights to Marrakech (RAK) or Casablanca (CMN), roughly 4–6 hours total. EU passports need no visa. Then plan a 7–10 day loop through Marrakech, the Sahara and Fes.
Antwerp travellers are wonderfully placed for Morocco, and the first thing I tell them is that Brussels Airport is only about forty to fifty minutes away by train, with frequent direct and one-stop flights to Marrakech and Casablanca. Morocco is a popular, well-served destination from Belgium, so connections are plentiful and total air time runs around four to six hours. Antwerp’s own airport is small, so I always route my guests via Brussels and have them verify the live schedule with the airline.
On the visa, EU and EEA passport holders enjoy visa-free tourism in Morocco for up to ninety days, which keeps Antwerp planning easy. I never let anyone assume, though — the rules track your passport, not your departure city. Confirm your specific entry requirements before booking, and if your passport needs a visa, apply early and verify the checklist on the official Moroccan portal. Sorting this first keeps the trip carefree.
For the journey, I find Antwerp travellers — with their eye for craft, from diamonds to fashion to fine detail — are captivated by Morocco’s artisan heritage. A 7-day loop covers Marrakech and its souks, a night in the High Atlas, two nights in the Sahara near Merzouga, and Fes, whose tanneries, metalwork and weaving will reward a discerning eye. Ten days adds blue Chefchaouen and the coast at Essaouira. A private driver keeps the long inland legs comfortable and scenic.
My Antwerp-specific tip: leave generous margin for the Brussels train connection so the start of the trip feels relaxed, not rushed — it is the only logistical step that needs a little thought. The time difference is just an hour, so there is no jet lag; keep day one light with a courtyard breakfast, then dive into the souks. Build the trip on our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below.
