From Dar es Salaam, connect via Addis Ababa, Cairo, or a Gulf hub (Doha/Dubai) to reach Casablanca — total 12–20 hours. Plan 8–12 days: Casablanca, Fes, the Sahara, Marrakech. Tanzanian passport holders may need a visa or e-visa, so confirm before booking.

Dar es Salaam to Morocco is an east-to-west traverse of the African continent, so it always involves a connection — there's no nonstop. The routings I rely on go through Addis Ababa on Ethiopian, Cairo on EgyptAir, or a Gulf hub like Doha or Dubai. Addis is often the most natural African connection northward, while the Gulf hubs can offer smoother timings depending on your dates. From the hub you connect into Casablanca, and total travel typically runs 12 to 20 hours depending on the layover, so compare a few options and reconfirm each leg.

Because you're crossing the continent, I plan nine to twelve days to make the trip worthwhile. A loop that works beautifully starting in Casablanca: train up to Fes for the great medieval medina, cross the Middle Atlas to the Sahara for a night at the dunes, then come over the High Atlas through Ait Ben Haddou into Marrakech and fly out. With the full twelve days you can add Chefchaouen's blue lanes or the Atlantic coast at Essaouira for a calmer finale.

On entry, requirements for Tanzanian passport holders can change, and Morocco has been introducing an electronic visa for several nationalities, so check whether you need a visa, an e-visa, or qualify for visa-free entry before you commit. Verify through official Moroccan channels and keep your passport (valid six-plus months), accommodation confirmations, and a return ticket ready. Don't book non-refundable flights until your entry path is clear.

Practical notes for Tanzanian travellers: Morocco is two to three hours behind Dar es Salaam, so the time shift is mild and westbound, which is the easier direction. Spring and autumn give the most comfortable weather across the loop. English is less widely spoken than French in Morocco, but you'll manage easily in tourist areas. Bring a fee-free card and withdraw dirhams on arrival rather than exchanging shillings beforehand.
