From Havana, fly to Madrid or Paris, then connect 1.5–2.5h to Casablanca or Marrakech — total 16–24 hours. Plan 8–12 days across Marrakech, the desert and Fes. Cuban passport holders need a Morocco visa, so confirm the process and apply well ahead.
Havana has solid links to Europe, and that's the gateway I use for Morocco trips from Cuba. The cleanest routing is Havana to Madrid (a direct transatlantic flight of around eight to nine hours) or Havana to Paris, then a short hop south — Madrid to Marrakech or Casablanca runs about 90 minutes, Paris around two and a half hours. There's no nonstop between Cuba and Morocco, so plan on 16 to 24 hours door to door and reconfirm the European connection, which doesn't run at every hour of the day.
For a journey this far, I plan nine to twelve days so the trip earns its airfare. A loop I recommend often: arrive into Marrakech to settle in, climb the High Atlas and descend to the Sahara for a night beneath the dunes, then travel north to Fes for the medieval medina before flying out. With twelve days you can weave in Chefchaouen or a coastal pause at Essaouira, which gives the itinerary a relaxed, sea-air finish.
On documentation, Cuban passport holders need a visa for Morocco, and consular logistics can take time, so start early and confirm the current procedure with the Moroccan mission responsible for Cuba. Be ready with a passport valid six-plus months, confirmed accommodation, a return ticket, and proof of funds. Keep digital and printed copies of all paperwork, and avoid committing to non-refundable flights until your visa is settled.
Two practical notes. Morocco is five to six hours ahead of Havana, so jet lag leans east — keep your first day gentle. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons across the full loop. For money, bring a fee-free card where you can and withdraw dirhams on arrival; plan a little cash buffer since card acceptance varies. Pre-book your first nights and the desert experience, and leave the cities loose to explore.
