Yes, for a relaxed lakeside half- or full-day. Lalla Takerkoust is a reservoir about 40 minutes south of Marrakech, with Atlas-backed views, lakeside restaurants, and watersports like kayaking and jet-skiing. It's calm and scenic rather than a 'sight' — perfect for unwinding, often combined with the nearby Agafay desert.

Lalla Takerkoust is one of Marrakech's quieter, more low-key escapes, and for the right traveller it's a delight. It's a man-made reservoir about 40 minutes' drive south of the city, with the High Atlas rising as a backdrop across the water. There's no monument or medina here — the appeal is simply space, fresh air, water and mountain views, which is exactly what some people need after the intensity of the souks.

The lakeshore has a string of relaxed restaurants and chill-out lounges where you can spend hours over lunch with your feet up and the Atlas reflected in the water. For the more active, there's kayaking, pedalos, jet-skiing and, on the surrounding tracks, quad biking and even camel rides. It's the kind of place to do as much or as little as you like — many just come for a long, scenic lakeside lunch and a swim.

Because it sits right next to the Agafay desert, the two pair naturally into a single outing: the lunar stone desert and a sunset camel ride at Agafay, plus the cool blue lake at Lalla Takerkoust, make a varied half- or full-day without ever being far from Marrakech. It's also an easy, gentle option for families and for anyone who wants a break that doesn't involve a long drive or a hike.

My honest take: don't come expecting a dramatic natural wonder — it's a reservoir, and the water level can drop in dry spells. But as a calm, pretty, easy day of lakeside relaxation and light watersports close to the city, it's genuinely worth it, especially combined with Agafay. Think of it as Marrakech's nearby chill-out spot rather than a must-see landmark.
