June opens Tangier’s beach season — warm, dry and bright, with highs around 24°C (75°F), nights near 16°C (61°F), and a sea finally warm enough to swim. Days are long, the breeze keeps it comfortable, and crowds build toward the summer peak. Pack swimwear, sunscreen and a light layer.
June is the month Tangier truly becomes a beach city again. Highs reach a balmy 24°C, the skies are reliably blue, and the sea warms enough—into the low 20s°C—that swimming is a pleasure rather than a dare. The long days stretch toward 9pm, the corniche fills with families and promenaders in the evening cool, and the whole city feels like it has shaken off the last of winter. It is one of the most enjoyable times to be here.
I love designing June stays because the famous Tangier wind actually works in your favour. While inland Morocco is heating up, the Atlantic breeze keeps the coast comfortable, so you can spend a morning on the beach, sightsee through the heat of the day without suffering, and still be fresh for a long evening. The Kasbah, Cap Spartel, the Caves of Hercules, and the beaches toward the Cap are all at their best. Sunset over the Strait in June is unforgettable.
This is peak season for eating and lingering outdoors. Every terrace is open, the seafood is at its summer best, and the night markets and cafés stay lively late. The light holds beautifully for evening walks and photography. Because European holidays are beginning, the city is livelier and accommodation is busier than in spring—I book good riads well ahead—but it has not yet hit the full August crush.
My honest guidance: June is genuinely a great month, but it marks the start of higher prices and bigger crowds, especially at weekends. The breeze that keeps Tangier pleasant can also be a strong wind on exposed beaches, so I help guests pick sheltered spots on the gustiest days. If you want warmth, swimming, long days and a vibrant city without August’s full intensity, June is, in my view, the best of both worlds.
