Pads are easy to find everywhere — in pharmacies, supermarkets and small shops in every city and town. Tampons are much less common: stocked in big-city pharmacies and large supermarkets in Marrakech, Casablanca or Rabat, but scarce elsewhere, and menstrual cups rarer still. If you rely on tampons or a cup, bring enough from home.
Here's the honest, practical breakdown every woman wants. Pads (sanitary towels) are no problem at all — you'll find a good range in pharmacies, supermarkets and even tiny corner shops in every city and town across Morocco, including familiar international brands. So if pads work for you, you can simply buy them on arrival and not give it a second thought. This is the easy part of the answer, and it covers most travellers.
Tampons are the genuine caveat, and I'd rather you hear it from me than discover it in a rural pharmacy. They're far less commonly used in Morocco, so stock is limited and uneven. In big cities — Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier — you can usually find tampons in larger pharmacies and the bigger supermarkets (the international-chain hypermarkets are your best bet), though the choice of brands and absorbencies is narrow and prices can be higher. Step into smaller towns, rural areas, the Atlas villages or the desert, and you may find none at all. Menstrual cups are rarer still and shouldn't be relied on locally.
So my firm advice: if you use tampons or a menstrual cup, pack enough for your whole trip from home, plus a buffer for a delayed period — don't plan to restock here. It weighs almost nothing and removes a real hassle. Throw in a few extras if you're heading off-grid to the desert or the mountains, where buying anything is impractical. A small zip bag of supplies in your day pack means a period that arrives early on a long travel day is a complete non-event.
Two extra practical notes. Plumbing can be old, especially in riads and rural guesthouses, so dispose of products in the bin provided rather than flushing — there's usually a small bin in the bathroom for exactly this. And pharmacies in Morocco are excellent and approachable: pharmacists are well trained, often speak French and some English, and can quietly help with period-related needs, pain relief or anything else; you can simply ask, and a female-staffed pharmacy is easy to find in any city if you'd prefer. Period care here is straightforward as long as you bring your own tampons or cup.
