Often yes. Moroccan pharmacies are well stocked and pharmacists are knowledgeable, frequently dispensing common medicines over the counter, though branding and availability differ. Bring your doctor's letter with generic drug names so they can match it. For anything critical or controlled, do not rely on this — pack enough for the whole trip plus extra and consult your doctor.
The reassuring answer is that Morocco has a strong pharmacy culture, and in any town of reasonable size you'll find well-stocked pharmacies marked by a green crescent, staffed by genuinely knowledgeable pharmacists who often speak French and sometimes English. For everyday things — and for a surprising number of medicines that would need a prescription back home — they can frequently dispense over the counter and advise you sensibly. I've watched travellers replace a forgotten blood-pressure tablet or antibiotic with very little fuss.
The key to making that work is bringing your doctor's letter with the generic (chemical) names of your medications, not just the brand names. Brand names vary wildly between countries — your familiar box won't exist here, but the same active ingredient almost certainly will, perhaps under a French or local name. With the generic name in hand, a Moroccan pharmacist can usually find the equivalent quickly. This is one more reason that little typed letter earns its place in your bag.
There are real limits, though, and I want to be straight about them. Some specialist medications, newer drugs, and anything controlled (strong painkillers, certain psychiatric or ADHD medications, particular sedatives) may simply not be available, may need a local prescription you can't easily get, or may be stocked only in major cities. Rural pharmacies are good for the basics but won't carry everything. So for anything you genuinely cannot do without, please do not treat 'I'll buy more there' as a plan.
My firm rule for critical medication — insulin, heart medication, anti-seizure drugs, anything that keeps you well day to day — is to bring the full trip's supply plus several extra days, split across your bags, and never count on local resupply. Running out is the avoidable emergency. For the minor, replaceable stuff, Moroccan pharmacies are a real safety net; for the essentials, your own forward planning is the safety net, and your doctor is the person to confirm what you'll need.
