Day 1
The Lagoon, Oyster Farms & Sunset
Oualidia
Spend your first day on Oualidia's calm lagoon, a crescent of sheltered water protected from the open Atlantic by a low rocky barrier, which makes it one of Morocco's safest spots for swimming. The town is just as famous for its oysters, farmed in the brackish lagoon and served at seafront tables. A former summer retreat of King Mohammed V, Oualidia stays low-key and unhurried - a place to swim, eat well and watch the light change over the water.
Morning
2-3 hoursLagoon Swim & Beach Walk
Start with a swim in the protected lagoon, where the rocky barrier tames the Atlantic swell into calm, shallow water ideal for families. Walk the long curve of sand, watch small fishing boats work the channel, and take in the low cliffs and dunes that frame the bay.
Afternoon
1.5-2 hoursOyster Farm Tasting
Visit one of the lagoon's oyster farms - the numbered parcs that supply much of Morocco - to see how the prized Oualidia oysters are grown and graded. Taste them at the source, freshly shucked with a squeeze of lemon, often paired with local white wine on a terrace over the water.
Evening
2-3 hoursSunset over the Lagoon
Settle on a seafront terrace as the sun drops behind the sea barrier and the lagoon glows pink and gold. Dinner is inevitably seafood - oysters, grilled fish and prawns - at one of the relaxed restaurants strung along the water's edge.
