Morocco Family Holidays 2027 paced for the youngest traveller

For a Morocco family holiday in 2027, Easter is the sweet spot: Easter Sunday is 28 March, just after Ramadan ends (about 8 March), with warm days and green valleys. In July and August, trade the hot interior for Essaouira and the Atlas. The late-October half-term brings the desert back, on private routes with short drives.

Easter: the best window of the year

Easter Sunday is 28 March 2027, about three weeks after Ramadan ends. Days are warm, the Atlas valleys are green and the desert is pleasant, so a full loop of city, mountains and dunes works. Riads fill early around Easter.

  2. Illustrative Morocco scene: Essaouira ramparts and white town with blue fishing boats in the foregroundIllustrative

    Summer: coast and mountains

July and August are very hot inland. Families do best in the Atlas, where the air is cooler, and on the breezy Atlantic at Essaouira, with Marrakech kept to early mornings and evenings.

    October half-term: the desert returns

Late October brings warm days and cool nights, the start of the desert season. A nine-day half-term is enough for the gorges, a night in the Erg Chebbi dunes and Fes.

  4. A panorama of Tinghir and its palm oasis, photographed on one of our trips

    Eid al-Adha in mid-May

Eid al-Adha is expected about 16 May 2027. Shops and souks close for two or three days and roads are busy, so if your break falls that week we plan nature days rather than medina days.

October half-term: desert, gorges and the blue city

Marrakech, Ait Benhaddou, Todra, Merzouga, Fes, Chefchaouen

What makes a family trip work

  • Short drives, real breaks

We split the long days with regular stops, add a night where a drive would be too long, and look for riads and kasbahs with pools or gardens.

  • Rooms that fit a family

Family rooms and connecting rooms are limited in small riads and desert camps, especially around Easter and Christmas. Booking early matters more for families than anyone.

  • Things children love

Camel rides, a cooking class, pottery and weaving workshops, mint tea in a Berber home, and the storytellers on Jemaa el-Fna in the evening.

Family holidays 2027: your questions

When is the best time for a Morocco family holiday in 2027?

The Easter break (Easter Sunday is 28 March 2027) and the October half-term are the best: warm days everywhere, desert included. In July and August, base the trip on the coast and in the Atlas rather than the Sahara.

Is Morocco good for a family holiday with young children?

Yes. Moroccans are warm with children, and a private trip lets you set the pace: short drives, pool stops and early nights. Camel rides, souks and a night in the desert are highlights for most children.

Is Ramadan 2027 a problem for an Easter family trip?

No. Ramadan is expected from about 8 February to 8 March 2027, with Eid al-Fitr about 9 March, so it ends about three weeks before Easter Sunday on 28 March.

Can we visit Morocco with kids in July or August?

Yes, with the right route. The interior and the Sahara are very hot by day, so families do best in the Atlas mountains and on the Atlantic coast at Essaouira, with Marrakech in the mornings and evenings.

Can children sleep in a Sahara desert camp?

Yes. We look for Erg Chebbi camps with larger family tents or connecting tents and ask for them in your quote. Nights are cold from November to February, so bring warm layers. For very young children, a night in Agafay, near Marrakech, is an easier first taste, though it is rocky desert, not dunes.

How much does a Morocco family holiday cost in 2027?

It depends on the season, the length, the hotels you choose and the number and ages of the children. Easter and Christmas book up first. Send your dates for a free, itemised quote within 24 hours.
