| Good for | Warm days with cool mountain evenings · A cool escape from inland heat · Fully open Rif hiking trails · Vivid blues under bright summer light |
June brings warm, dry, dependable weather to Chefchaouen, with the mountain altitude keeping it comfortable where inland cities turn fierce. Daytime highs around 27°C are warm but rarely oppressive, the skies are bright, and the cool evenings — a real benefit of the Rif setting — make rooftop dinners and after-dark wandering a pleasure. The blue medina is busy with early summer visitors, so the famous lanes reward an early start, but the light stays clean and the blues vivid from dawn to dusk.
It is a fine month for the mountains, with the heat of high summer not yet arrived. Trails are dry and the rivers, fed by spring melt, still run well, making the Akchour Waterfalls — pools, the Bridge of God arch, shaded riverside paths — an ideal cool-down, and Talassemtane National Park's cedar trails comfortable for a day's walking. In the medina, the full circuit flows easily: early photography on Rue Targa, the Kasbah Museum by day, Rif goat cheese on a rooftop, and the Spanish Mosque for a warm, clear sunset.
June's altitude makes Chefchaouen a natural cool escape from the building heat of Fes, Meknes or Marrakech — many travellers slot it in for exactly that contrast. Prices rise toward summer levels and the medina is lively, so book ahead and start photo sessions early, but the combination of warm bright days, cool evenings and fully open mountain trails makes June an excellent, comfortable month in the blue city.
Every tour is private, led by a licensed local guide, and fully customisable to your interests and pace. Prices are per person based on two travellers.
